Pre-stamp era

In the pre-stamp era an ancient system of couriers operated throughout the Persian empire.[1]

Indian postal agencies

Indian postal agencies operated from 1857 to 1923 at Bushire, Bandar Abbas, Linga, Jask, Mahommera, Chabbar, Henjam, Abadan and Ahwaz. Indian stamps were used at these agencies from 1864.[1]

Russian post offices

Russian post offices operated in 1908-18 in northern Persia using stamps of Russia.[1]

First stamps

The first stamps of Iran were issued in 1868.
